How are we at the end of another week already?  I mean, I appreciate that my days go by fast and I am never bored in my life but seriously… if we could just slow down for a few days that would be great.

I’ve already been up working for over an hour (yep, the alarm went off at 4am today) but I wanted to take a quick minute to share some of my favorite things of the week.  So without further ado…

1. My bar shed
When I bought my house, I instantly knew I wanted to convert the garden shed into a party bar.  I’ve been chipping away at it all summer but should be completing much of the work for the year this weekend.  Pictures to follow next week but if you don’t know what a bar shed is in the first place, check out these ones that are way cooler than mine.

2. Wine
I mean, this one is a given.  But while I drink wine all year round, something about coming into fall gives me renewed appreciation for the red wines that I love.  My favorite wines are all a bit spicy, pretty bold, not something you want to drink when it’s 85 degrees out.  It’s been in the 60s and raining this week so I’ve already started looking for new wines to fill the rack in my kitchen.  I can’t wait to get back to heartier foods, fuller wines, and cozier sweaters.

Which brings me to…

3. Cooler Weather
Last weekend, it was 90 degrees.  I was miserable.  Literally, I sat down at one point on Saturday and sweat squished between my thighs (gross I know…)  The cooler weather this week is definitely more my thing.  I could do without the rain but my garden desperately needed it so I won’t complain.  Tuesday night I pulled out a blanket scarf and my dark brown boots and I couldn’t be happier.  Fall is my favorite!  Bring on the pumpkin spice, fuzzy scarves, and knee high boots anytime.

4. Kitty Snuggles
With the cooler weather also comes more snuggling around the house.  While the girls are happy to cuddle close when it’s hot it, I’m not so keen on it.  My house doesn’t have air conditioning so you can imagine the sweaty mess that happens when it’s 80 degrees in here and there are two lumps of fluff on top of me.  Last night, I laid in bed and finished this month’s book club book (more on that next week!) while the girls piled in close.  Seriously, they’re the cutest.

5. That Closet in the Background

image1 (2)When I moved into this house, I was truly concerned with where all of my stuff would go.  I was moving from a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath townhome into a 2 bedroom, 1 bath house.  The 3rd bedroom as the old house functioned as a giant walk-in closet.  That just wasn’t an option here.  So I went to my dad, and after many long phone conversations, hours pouring over Pinterest, and quite a few tears on my part, we found the perfect solution.  We order the pieces, unpacked them in my old living room… and discovered they were broken and wouldn’t work at all.  After a long Saturday at Menards (and a few more tears on my part) we decided to custom build the closet to fit exactly what I needed.  My dad listened to me, helped me think through the logistics, and spent an entire weekend building what has turned out to be my dream closet.  It isn’t huge but it’s efficient.  We have storage crammed into ever nook and cranny and every thing I need is always at my finger tips.  Somehow, we’ve managed to create more storage in my slightly-bigger-than-average-bedroom-closet than I did in the entire third bedroom.  Plus I’m using one less dresser than I used to.  Undoubtedly, the closet is one of my favorite things about this house.  Makes me happy every single morning.

Your turn… What’s making you happy this morning?
