I’ve shared a few times that I started working out a few weeks ago.  I’m going on week number six right now – and haven’t gone less than 4 times each of those weeks – and I can honestly say that I enjoy it way more than I ever expected.

I feel like I need to join a support group.  “Hello my name is Rikki and I enjoy working out at 5:30 in the morning.”  That’s right.  5:30.  In the morning.  From the girl who rarely goes to bed before midnight.  I’m exhausted but physically I’m feeling good and we can sleep when we’re dead, right?

I’m starting to see small results.  And I mean, very small.  I refuse to step on a scale more than once a month because I’m not technically working out to lose pounds.  But last I checked, the loss in that area was minimal.  I do notice a slight increase in flexibility, a little bit of good soreness most days, and the fact that my calves are back to being officially huge.  Like so huge that I’m struggling to zip my boots over my pants these days.  It’s a family thing and I was expecting that side effect when I started this journey.  It’s just that I didn’t miss the huge calves in the years they went away (aka they years where I was being lazy).

It’s probably because it’s been only very small changes that I’m starting to feel a little unmotivated.

I don’t mean that I’m going to stop trying anytime soon.  Not at all.  I like it too much to quit.  I’m just trying to head off the evil “this isn’t worth your time” monster that I know is lurking just around the corner when the alarm goes off every day.

So I’m looking for some help, bloggy friends.  What do you do to stay motivated when you aren’t seeing tangible results?  And this isn’t just about working out!  It’s a general question.
